The SVQ Level 2 in Dry Lining - Fixing is a work-based qualification designed for individuals with some experience in dry lining and fixing within the construction industry. This qualification is part of the Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) framework and is essential for those looking to obtain a Blue CSCS card.
The course is tailored for those working in dry lining, particularly in the installation of internal partition systems, ceiling systems, and the application of plasterboard and other internal linings. Candidates will be assessed regularly throughout their training, with ongoing feedback and guidance from experienced assessors.
This qualification is ideal for individuals who have practical experience in fixing dry lining systems in both commercial and domestic construction projects. Candidates will demonstrate their skills by completing practical tasks that align with the assessment criteria of each unit.
Candidates must provide evidence of their competence in line with the qualification standards. Assessments are conducted to ensure that candidates meet the required learning outcomes, with guidance provided to ensure consistent evaluation of their abilities.
PATHWAYS AND ASSESSMENT:
To attain the qualification candidates must complete 5 units in total. This comprises:
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Installing plasterboard linings in the workplace
- Installing dry lining systems in the workplace
You are required to have minimum of 3 years’ experience within the industry. Assessment will have to be carried out on construction site or related area.
You will be required with a help of an assessor to take photos & videos of you carrying out the work on your site.
A set of knowledge tests – you can answer these or have a discussion with your assessor.
You will have to gain a witness testimony from your site manage or site supervisor. We will provide you with appropriate documents.
You will have to gather copies of site documents RAMS, Toolbox talks etc.
This can be completed in 4 weeks as long as you are prepared to work with your assessor and gather the correct evidence.
Once completed you will receive your SVQ/NVQ diploma which is approved by CITB and together with valid HS&E test you will obtain Blue – Skilled Worker Card
