The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations (Construction) provides a nationally recognised qualification for individuals working within this sector. The aim of the qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills, and competence demonstrated by individuals in the workplace.

This qualification is competence-based, requiring candidates to demonstrate the level of competence specified in the units. Assessment involves measuring a candidate’s skills, knowledge, and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

The qualification must be assessed in accordance with the Construction Sector Qualifications Strategy and will be internally assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor.

Candidates must compile a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. 

ASSESSMENT

Candidates must complete all of the Mandatory units, along with ONE Optional unit.

Mandatory Units – Candidates are required to complete all units in this group.

  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Assessing and preparing background surfaces for floorcoverings in the workplace
  • Preparing and fitting underlays for floorcoverings in the workplace
  • Setting out for laying floorcoverings in the workplace
  • Surface preparation to receive floorcoverings
  • Assessing and evaluating conditions for floorcoverings in the workplace
  • Develop customer relationships

Optional Units – candidates must complete ONE unit in this group

  • Installing textile floorcoverings in the workplace.
  • Installing resilient floorcoverings in the workplace.
  • Installing timber-based floorcoverings in the workplace.
