The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Demolition is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals working in the demolition industry. This qualification is aimed at those who have developed advanced skills and knowledge in demolition operations and are looking to formalise their expertise.
As a competence-based qualification, candidates must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a range of demolition techniques and practices, as outlined in the units. To achieve this qualification, candidates are required to compile a portfolio of evidence that clearly shows their ability to meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
Upon successful completion of the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Demolition, candidates will be eligible to apply for the Gold CSCS Card, marking their expertise and qualification as a skilled professional in the demolition industry.
ASSESSMENT AND PATHWAYS:
Candidates must complete 7 Mandatory Units and may also choose to complete one of the optional units from group A and one optional unit from group B if desired.
Mandatory Units:
- Pathway 1 – Demolition (Top Man) Operative
- Pathway 2 – Demolition Chargehand
- Pathway 3 – Demolition Plant
Pathway 1 – Demolition (Top Man) Operative
Candidates must complete 7 Mandatory units plus 3 Optional units.
Mandatory Units- Complete all
- Removing and segregating components and materials in demolition and/or refurbishment in the workplace
- Confirming work activities and resources for an occupational work area in the workplace
- Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace
- Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace
- Implementing and maintaining health, safety, environmental and welfare practices in the workplace
- Co-ordinating and confirming the dimensional control requirements of the work in the workplace
- Installing, constructing, maintaining, dismantling and removing temporary works in the workplace.
Optional Units – 3 units required
- Dismantling and/or demolishing masonry and/or concrete structures in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing roofs and/or cladding in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing timber structures in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing metal structures in the workplace
Pathway 2 : Demolition Chargehand.
Candidates must complete 9 Mandatory units, plus 1 optional unit
Mandatory Units- Complete all

- Monitoring progress of work against schedules in the workplace
- Controlling, directing and guiding the operation of plant or machinery in the workplace.
Optional Units – 3 units required
- Dismantling and/or demolishing masonry and/or concrete structures in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing roofs and/or cladding in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing timber structures in the workplace
- Dismantling and/or demolishing metal structures in the workplace
Pathway 3: Demolition Plant.
Candidates must complete 5 Mandatory units plus 1 Optional Unit.
Mandatory Units – Complete all units

- Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace
- Implementing and maintaining health, safety, environmental and welfare practices in the workplace

Optional Units – 1 unit required
- Operating plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures above 30 metres in the workplace
- Operating plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures up to 30 metres in the workplace
