Abrasive Wheels training is an online course that ensures that you are competent and safe when using and inspecting different abrasive-wheel types. On the course, you will learn the steps you need to take, to use abrasive wheels safely and legally.

There are no requirements for entry on this course. Delegates should advise the tutor before the course starts on the kind of abrasive wheels, cutting, or grinding equipment their occupation requires so the tutor can tailor the course accordingly.

Course Objectives

Nearly a half all accidents involving the use of abrasive wheels are caused by unsafe working systems or operator mistakes. The abrasive wheels training course is designed to overcome these potential hazards.

The course ensures that participants meet government abrasive wheel regulations. By the end of the course, attendees will be able to safely use handheld and bench operated cutting wheels. They will have a clear understanding of relevant Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and will be able to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Course Objectives

The course meets the training requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98). Students will learn to identify potential hazards and overcome them. They will be taught to identify the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure that it is maintained properly and used safely.

What Will Participants Learn?

The abrasive wheels training course is a combination of theoretical and practical training. Tutor led demonstrations are combined with a practical element that teaches how to safely change abrasive disks.

Participants will learn the legal requirements concerning cutting wheel safety. They will be able to set and change abrasive wheels. On completion, attendees will meet abrasive wheels regulations and operate cutting disks in a safe manner.
