SVQ/NVQ – Waterproof Membrane Roofing Systems (Level 2)
This qualification provides national recognition for individuals specialising in waterproof membrane roofing systems. It validates practical skills, occupational competence, and knowledge required to install, repair, and maintain membrane roofing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Assessment is competence-based and conducted in a workplace environment, with a portfolio of evidencedemonstrating achievement of all learning outcomes. Assessments are guided by a qualified assessor.
Mandatory Units (All Pathways)
Candidates must complete these 5 core mandatory units:
Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Preparing surfaces for membrane roofing systems in the workplace
Repairing membrane roofing systems in the workplace
Pathway-Specific Mandatory Units
Pathway 1 – Reinforced Bitumen Membrane Roofing
Complete all 5 core mandatory units plus:
Applying reinforced bitumen membrane systems in the workplace
Pathway 2 – Single Ply Membrane Roofing
Complete all 5 core mandatory units plus:
Applying single ply membrane systems in the workplace
Pathway 3 – Liquid Applied Membrane Roofing Systems
Complete all 5 core mandatory units plus:
Applying liquid applied membrane systems in the workplace
Additional Units (Optional)
Candidates may also complete any of the following additional units (not compulsory):
Installing decking for flat roof coverings in the workplace
Installing support systems for green roofs in the workplace
Installing solar collectors to roofs in the workplace
