This qualification covers areas such as general workplace health, safety and welfare; productive work practices; and erecting specialised, designed scaffolds and rigging. This qualification has been designed by the CITB Sector Skills Council to ensure relevance to the sector.
To attain the qualification candidates must complete 8 units in total. This comprises of 4 mandatory units and 4 units optional:
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace (Communication)
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- Utilising Provision of Fall Protection Systems and/or Equipment in the Workplace (Harness & Lanyards)
- Installing and Removing Safety Net Rigging in the Workplace
- Preparing and operating mast climber-type mobile elevating work platforms – MEWP – in the workplace
- Erecting and dismantling cantilever scaffolds in the workplace
- Erecting and removing specialist access equipment in the workplace
- Installing temporary lifting and suspension apparatus in the workplace
- Erecting and dismantling mobile and static scaffold towers in the workplace
- Installing, maintaining and removing work area protection and safety equipment in the workplace
