SVQ/NVQ Diploma – Demolition (Level 2)

The Level 2 SVQ/NVQ Diploma in Demolition is a nationally recognised, competence-based qualification for individuals working in the specialised field of demolition and refurbishment within the construction industry.

Candidates are required to demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and understanding against the standards outlined in the qualification. Assessment is carried out in a workplace environment and follows the ConstructionSkills’ Consolidated Assessment Strategy for Construction and the Built Environment. Assessments must be conducted by a suitably experienced and qualified assessor.

Upon successful completion, learners gain formal recognition for their expertise in demolition operations and may use this qualification to support career progression within the sector.

Pathways and Units

Pathway 1 – Demolition and Refurbishment Operative

Mandatory Units – Complete all 4

1. Conforming to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace

2. Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace

3. Moving, handling, and storing resources in the workplace

4. Removing and segregating components and materials in demolition and/or refurbishment in the workplace

Optional Units – Complete 1

• Dismantling and/or demolishing masonry and/or concrete structures in the workplace

• Dismantling and/or demolishing roofs and/or cladding in the workplace

• Dismantling and/or demolishing timber structures in the workplace

• Dismantling and/or demolishing metal structures in the workplace

Pathway 2 – Plant Operative

Mandatory Units – Complete all 2

1. Conforming to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace

2. Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace

Optional Units – Complete 1

• Operating plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures up to 15 metres in the workplace

• Operating remote and/or pedestrian-controlled plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures in the workplace

• Operating demolition skid steer to demolish structures in the workplace

• Operating demolition rigged plant for materials processing in the workplace
