The aim of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills, and competence of individuals working in a wood-based occupation within the construction industry. The qualification seeks to acknowledge the expertise demonstrated by individuals in the workplace.

Candidates must demonstrate the required level of knowledge outlined in the units. Assessment involves evaluating a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

Each candidate is required to compile evidence that demonstrates their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

  • Pathway 2 – Architectural Joinery
  • Pathway 3 – Structural Post and Beam Carpentry
  • Pathway 4 – Light Structural Timber Framing
  • Pathway 5 – Timber Frame Erection
  • Pathway 6 – Timber Decks and Cladding
  • Pathway 7 – Heritage Site Carpentry
  • Pathway 8 – Heritage Architectural Joinery
  • Pathway 9 – Heritage Structural Post and Beam Carpentry
  • Pathway 10 – Pre-assembled Roof Structure Installer

Candidates must complete ALL of the Mandatory units, plus the Mandatory and/or Optional unit requirements from one of the Pathways.

Mandatory Units – candidates must complete all units for all Pathways

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Based on the pathway that candidates choose, they must complete different mandatory and optional units specific to that pathway. Each pathway has tailored units to ensure candidates gain the relevant skills and knowledge for their chosen area of expertise within the construction industry.
