SVQ/NVQ Diploma – Thermal Insulation (Level 2)
This qualification provides national recognition of occupational competence for individuals specialising in thermal insulation in the construction industry.
It validates practical skills, knowledge, and occupational competence in the installation and finishing of insulation systems, including protective elements and sheet metal components.
Assessment is competence-based, conducted in a real workplace. Candidates must compile a portfolio of evidencedemonstrating achievement of all qualification requirements. Assessments follow the ConstructionSkills Consolidated Assessment Strategy and are carried out by a qualified assessor.
Mandatory Units
Candidates must complete all 5 mandatory units:
Complying with health, safety, and welfare requirements in the workplace
Complying with productive working practices in the workplace
Moving, handling, and storing materials and resources in the workplace
Applying insulation and finishes to cylindrical and flat surfaces in the workplace
Fitting sheet metal insulation protection in the workplace
Additional Unit (Optional)
Erecting and dismantling access/working platforms in the workplace
Endorsement requirements (if any) are detailed in the guidance for each individual unit.
