The learner must demonstrate skills, knowledge, and understanding in core subject areas, as well as prove occupational competence in a specialised subject area.
This qualification is competence-based, meaning candidates must show the level of competence outlined in each unit. Assessment involves measuring a candidate’s skills, knowledge, and understanding against the standards specified in the qualification.
The assessment process is conducted within the learner's work environment and must be carried out by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor. Each candidate is required to compile a portfolio of evidence that showcases their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
ASSESSMENT AND PATHWAYS:
Candidates can choose from different pathways based on their occupation, including:
- Pathway 1: Ceiling Fixing
- Pathway 2: Dry Lining Finishing
- Pathway 3: Dry Lining Boarder
- Pathway 4: Cavity Barrier Installation
To achieve the qualification, candidates must complete the three Mandatory units required for all pathways, along with the specific Mandatory unit(s) from one of the chosen pathways.
There are three mandatory units for all Pathways as below:
- Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
- Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Extra mandatory units for different pathways:
- Pathway 1 : Ceiling Fixing- Installing suspended ceiling systems in the workplace
- Pathway 2 : Dry Lining Finishing- Finishing dry lining walls and ceilings in the workplace Unit Endorsements.
- Pathway 3 : Dry Lining Boarder- Installing plasterboard linings in the workplace
- Pathway 4 : Cavity Barrier Installation- Preparing and installing protection barriers to floors and ceilings in the workplace
