The SVQ/NVQ Diploma in Interior Systems is a competence-based qualification designed for construction workers specialising in internal building systems. It enables candidates to demonstrate practical competence in installation, finishing, and protection systems used in walls, ceilings, and partitions.

Candidates are assessed in a real work environment, compiling a portfolio of evidence to show achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. Assessments are conducted by an experienced and qualified assessor.

Qualification Structure

Core Mandatory Units (All Pathways)

All candidates must complete these units:

1. Conforming to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace

2. Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace

3. Moving, handling, and storing resources in the workplace

Pathway-Specific Units

Candidates select a pathway and complete the additional mandatory units for their specialism:

1. Pathway 1 – Ceiling Fixing

   • Installing suspended ceiling systems in the workplace

2. Pathway 2 – Dry Lining Finishing

   • Finishing dry lining walls and ceilings in the workplace

3. Pathway 3 – Dry Lining Boarder

   • Installing plasterboard linings in the workplace

4. Pathway 4 – Cavity Barrier Installation

   • Preparing and installing protection barriers to floors and ceilings in the workplace

This qualification ensures that candidates demonstrate competence in installing and finishing interior systems, enabling them to work confidently and safely across a range of construction projects.
