SVQ/NVQ Diploma – Cladding (Construction)
The Level 3 SVQ/NVQ Diploma in Cladding is a competence-based qualification designed to assess and validate a candidate’s expertise, proficiency, and practical skills in roof and wall sheeting, cladding, and rainscreen wall systems.
This qualification is ideal for individuals who wish to demonstrate advanced skills in cladding and progress to a Gold CSCS Card, recognising them as highly skilled professionals in the cladding occupation. Candidates must showcase both theoretical knowledge and practical competence, ensuring they meet industry standards across a range of tasks.

Working safely at heights using MEWPs or other lifting equipment

Pathways and Units
Pathway 1 – Roof and Wall Sheeting and Cladding
Mandatory Units – Complete all 8:
Confirm work activities and resources for an occupational work area
Develop and maintain good occupational working relationships
Confirm the occupational method of work
Conform to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace
Prepare resources for the installation of sheeting and cladding materials on roofs and walls
Install sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls
Install sheeting and cladding rainwater goods on roofs and walls
Install sheeting and cladding systems to curved and complex roof and wall formations
Optional Units – Complete ONE:
Refurbish sheeting and cladding on roofs, walls, or rainscreen systems
Repair sheeting and cladding systems (including rainscreen)
Install solar collectors to roofs
Prepare and operate scissor-type MEWPs
Prepare and operate boom-type MEWPs
Set out secondary dimensional work control
Sling and hand signal the movement of suspended loads
Pathway 2 – Rainscreen Wall Cladding Systems
Mandatory Units – Complete all 6:
Confirm work activities and resources for an occupational work area
Develop and maintain good occupational working relationships
Confirm the occupational method of work
Conform to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace
Prepare backing walls to receive rainscreen wall cladding systems
Install rainscreen wall cladding systems
Optional Units – Complete THREE:
Refurbish sheeting and cladding on roofs, walls, or rainscreen systems
Repair sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls (including rainscreen)
Prepare and operate ergonomic manipulating machines to lift and transfer loads
Prepare and operate scissor-type MEWPs
Prepare and operate boom-type MEWPs
Set out secondary dimensional work control
Sling and hand signal the movement of suspended loads
Assessment & Certification
Assessment: Work-based observation, portfolio of evidence, and professional discussion
Certification: Level 3 SVQ/NVQ Diploma in Cladding
CSCS Card: Eligible for Gold CSCS Card upon successful completion
Duration: Flexible; dependent on candidate experience and pathway
